A fine, smooth fabric which weighs 18 g/m². The fabric is made from lightly-twisted yarn which absorbs dyes easily and makes for vivid colours. Highly recommended for silk painting.
Same characteristics as the pongee 4.5 but heavier, about 20 grams per square meter.
Habotai 8 (in France also called pongé 9) weighs 35 g/m². It has similar characteristics to the finer ponges and is usually used for scarves and garments. Highly recommended as a base for silk painting.

Twills are diagonally-woven fabrics, often called ‘Sarga’ in the Spanish-speaking world The appearance is not as glossy as satin, but not as matt as crepe. Suitable for scarves, garments, ties, cushions and, of course, as a base for silk painting.
A variety of the Crepe de Chine, this fabric is matte on one side and satin (glossy) on the other. It is, perhaps, the paradigm silk fabric. Available in natural white, it weighs 39 g/m² and is suitable for silk accessories, garments, decoration, or as a base for silk painting.
